The twentieth century saw a troubled history for Rwanda with the horrors of genocide. The genocide museum in Kigali is a very sobering place as far as treatment of the subject goes an excellent museum. What most travellers comment on though is how far Rwanda has come in a short time, in rebuilding the country - the work ethic is clear. Rwanda wants to be the Singapore of East Africa and stands a good chance of accomplishing this. Trekking to see the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys can be arduous but the primates are inspiring and the trek worth. May Rwanda continue to preserve the environment and the gorillas and prosper from this.
