The UAE comprises seven emirates and I visited two - Dubai and Sharjah. Dubai has some fantastic modern architecture but it is old Dubai that I liked the best, the Dubai creek with Abras (water taxis), Dhows (sailing boats) and the spice souk (market) plus all sorts of colourful characters. You could be in Venice or India. Sharjah has lots of character and the desert of Dubai I really enjoyed for the endless changing patterns and the tranquility. Next time I'll aim to travel to some of the less visited parts of the UAE for the old culture of the country.
